10/18/2020 New Routines in the art roomDue to our phased opening of schools, it is the first day of Art for someone everyday. Students who have attended school face to face have already been working on our lesson, while those at home are using their own supplies to create art as well. This necessitated optional activities for "early finishers" as we are not sharing our usual art tools with each other right now. Thanks to the support of our generous PTO, we have a class set of drawing "manikins". Students have been practicing drawing by observing each shape that makes up the figure instead of looking at the figure as a whole and possibly becoming frustrated. We also have a class set of bags of wooden blocks, allowing artists to work as architects do. Students create buildings, bridges, towers, etc. and then draw their architectural creations. It has been so hearwarming to see our artists here at school. I saw this quote recently on social media-"If you can't see my smile, I hope you can see my heart." This perfectly expresses how I feel all day, everyday.
