9/18/2015 New Year, New Ideas...Fifth Graders are working on a self-portrait inspired by a lesson I observed in a middle school art room. I have taken a photo of each student and posterized it using an iPad app. Students are tracing a "value map" on this photo, dividing their portrait into areas of different values. We used nature's lightbox-windows-to trace this portrait on to the good paper. Next week, we begin mixing tints and shades to add color. So far, so good... Meanwhile, in Fourth Grade, we are playing with proportion and forced perspective. Each student will draw and then paint a cup and saucer. A small photo of the student interacting with the cup and saucer will be added. Loving these tiny selfies!
