3/18/2018 we are the champions, my friendsMrs. Elliott's 5th graders were on top of their game last week. They are serving themselves acrylic paint and mixing colors to add to their humanimal sculptures. At the end of this class, as we were all scurrying around cleaning up, (ok, Mrs. S. was probably the only one scurrying) I was able to involve every student in the huge undertaking that is this kind of cleanup. Proud of their community spirit and happy to surprise their teacher at the end of class.
3/18/2018 yam fun continuesYouth art month: Building Community Through ARtOur Professional Development included ART on March 8th. Spent a lovely morning with these lovely people exploring indigo dye. It seemed to be just what we all needed as we roll into a busy 4th quarter and manage the spring fever that seems to be quite catchy among our students these days. :)
3/8/2018 Mrs. Kassel's Third GradersThese artists are my favorite part of Thursdays! What a dedicated and cooperative community of artists. Happy to recognize them for their efforts this year!
3/8/2018 it's youth art month! This year's theme is "Building Community Through Art" and we're doing a lot of that at CCES. Three students and their families delivered artwork to Milton Mayor Joe Lockwood for display in his office. Lucy Tomich, Aaron Palazzo and Heidi Cay Selby helped Mayor Lockwood hang our work and then we were given a personal tour of the new Milton City Hall. Niyati Kumar and Camille Ivy have art displayed at the Mayor's office, too. The next day, Camille Cheeseboro and her family attended the reception for the Capitol Art Exhibit at our State Capitol in Atlanta. Senator John Albers was on hand to congratulate Camille and speak with her about her artistic process. An artwork by Caden Albrecht was also included in the Capitol Art Exhibit. Our State Secretary of Education, Richard Woods is a dedicated supporter of the Arts in our schools. He is also pictured here with Camille and her brother Carter.
