10/29/2017 fourth graders earn the trophy this week!Mrs. Hanney was absolutely thrilled to hear that her class had been chosen to receive the Art Champions trophy! These fourth grade artists had their own moments of zen time quietly working on their sketches for our new lesson. A little quiet goes a long way when we're developing new ideas!
Thanks to the generous support of the Crabapple Crossing PTO, I spent a few days meeting and learning from my fellow Georgia Art Educators. In keeping with the Conference them of "Voices, Visions, Visuals: The Art of Storytelling", I presented an idea I had developed based on the art of the Old West. The finished product is a postcard that students create that tells the story of an outdoor adventure. I had time to catch up with Art teacher friends and created some art of my own. It was a great few days that made me feel even more energized to spend time doing the best job in the world. Enjoyed a workshop on stop motion animation. Check out the video I created- Georgia's School Superintendent, Richard Woods, spoke at the Conference, assuring the State's Art Teachers that the Arts have a vital role in our state's schools. Superintendent Woods has a way of making what we do seem important and valued.
10/15/2017 Art Champs!Congratulations to Mrs. McGuire's Third Grade class! According to their Art Teacher, Ms. Miller, these artists exemplify the PBIS spirit, always following rules and expectations. Way to go!
10/8/2017 taking time to promote positivityTwo days without students meant productive time for all of us here at CCES. Parent conferences were being held. We spent time in an engaging and thought-provoking meeting about diversity. Grades are being finished up in preparation for progress reports this week. I spent time preparing a new lesson plan for our third graders and reviewing student sketchbooks.
It also seemed like the perfect time to spread a little love around our school building. I was inspired by the Milton Love Project, a local initiative that uses wooden hearts to anonymously offer encouragement to those facing hard times. Staff members were encouraged to stop by the Art Room and create a work of heART. I will be posting these throughout our school, sharing our messages of positivity. I enjoyed having company and I would say the results speak for themselves! 10/1/2017 We did it!So proud of Mrs. Nation's First Grade Art Champions! These amazing artists persevered despite the challenges of a very difficult, multiple step lesson. We're creating art for our December At Show and this class is really ready to wow you!
