12/17/2017 Another Successful Art ShowEvening of the ARts-December 5, 2017The Art Show included an artwork from each CCE student. Musical performances by Chorus and Orff, as well as carolers provided the holiday spirit. Our visiting artist, Mark Brooks, father of fifth grade student Jack, created two original drawings that were raffled off at the end of the event. A great team of volunteers helped the evening proceed seamlessly. Students and their families enjoyed an evening of the arts. Till next year!
12/17/2017 The Champions!Mrs. Manning and Mrs. Bradley's kindergarten friends earned the trophy recently. We like to "hide" while we wait for our pick up at the end of class. It's really just my way of encouraging students to wait quietly. We "trick" their teacher when she arrives. I tell her that it's so quiet, there couldn't possibly be children in the room. Mrs Manning never plays along, but we keep trying anyway. While we waited for her to arrive, we were all quietly lined up when Mrs. Manning came in the back door and fooled us! If this was a prank war, Mrs. Manning would be winning. Til next time...
12/3/2017 "Can I sing you a Song?"Mrs. Smith's 2nd Grade class won the Art Champions trophy this week after bursting into song while we were cleaning up. In the chaos of clay, tools, ziplock bags, art shirts and handwashing, their sweet voices brought us all back to a calm state of centeredness. Just what we needed! Check this out!The Youth Art Gallery at Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport is now home to these prints created by CCES artists. If you're traveling, take a look for yourself. Find the gallery next to Gate E14 in the International Terminal. Time for a quick hometown visitChicago is home to the #1 Museum In The World-according to Trip Advisor-the Art Institute of Chicago. The High Museum of Art never fails to inspire and has been an important part of my life as an Art Educator. Chicago's Art Institute holds a special place in my heart, too. I grew up in Chicago and am the only one in my family to have left the Chicago area. My visits back home just aren't complete without an adventure with my mom. She loves to say that these cultural experiences are not ones she would have ever planned herself and is pleasantly surprised every time. Knowing how lucky I am to spend time with my mom, these times are especially precious to both of us.
