2/26/2014 Short TimersOur Fifth Graders are definitely feeling close to the end of their time here. That leads to some interesting behaviors on their part, and some bittersweet thinking on mine. This part of childhood is precious and fleeting. I am so fortunate to spend my days being a part of it all. Here is today's class glazing their clay projects. Don't they look like they belong in middle school already??? 2/26/2014 Capitol Art Exhibit, Part 22/21/2014 March is Youth Art Month! These second grade artists were chosen to have their arwork included in the Youth Art Month display at the Fulton County Schools Administration Building. Each artist drew herself in an action pose. This drawing was cut out and used as a pattern to trace a shadow on black paper. A winter background was created on blue paper and then the entire thing was assembled. So proud of these girls! 2/13/2014 GAEA Capitol Art ExhibitSo proud of Cameron and Chase, Northwood Fifth Grade artists. Their Chuck Close-inspired self portraits are included in the Capitol Art Exhibit. 2/13/2014 Art and the OlympicsMaking the most of our snow days this week. Planning some new lessons inspired by the High Musuem's Go West! exhibit. And I will have to admit to watching more television than usual. You know you're an art teacher with too much time on your hands when you start noticing things like this: Curling team from Norway Piet Mondrian's Composition No. II With Red and Blue And another... Jackson Pollock's infamous drip painting Art...it's everywhere!
