Peacekeepers in the House January 20 and 27, 2017
|
It was a pleasure to spend time with some of the CCES Peacekeepers and Mrs. Lundy, our school Counselor. Dr. Williams has requested some student artwork for the hallway near our school's entrance. Our Colt window decal, found on the school's exterior doors, provided a perfect template for our paintings. Peacekeeper were encouraged to create their own color schemes. The resulting paintings are unique and impressive!

Project Runway Art Club April 21, 2016
Though we ran out of time for a stop motion animation project, Art Club had a blast designing for and dressing these Manikins. Some future fashion designers here, for sure!

Crazy Good Canvases March 31, 2016
Wow! We started with gloss gel medium to add some thicknesses to our acrylic paint. Each artist chose a monochromatic color scheme. The following week, we added text or a symbol. These far exceeded my expectations!
Off to a Great Start!
A new session of Art Club has begun. We created these small square canvases and then made our own stencils. Super impressed with the results!

Stop Motion Animation! "Lost in Space"
April 16, 2015
Trying a different format for our animation project this semester. We are using a more two-dimensional layout with foam shapes and our tripod is elevated vertically. Just as before, we are all amazed at the amount of photographs (frames) that it takes to create just a minute or two of video. SculpturesMarch 19, 2015
Our principal, Dr. Ahuja mentioned that she would like some sculpture added to ledges in the Special Areas hallway. We have set to work creating paper mache totem poles. Last week, we created our armatures with corrugated cardboard and card stock. This week, we added newspaper strips dipped in watered-down glue. It was great, sloppy fun! Words to Live By
February 5, 2015
Artists used masking tape to mark off areas of their canvases and then painted the entire canvas. Next we looked for inspirational quotes and printed them to be added to our canvases. We hope to inspire others with our Words of Wisdom. What if you lived in a snow globe?
January 15, 2015
We spent our first Art Club meeting of the semester creating snow globes with our photos inside. This is already such a fun group! They came up with some great poses for themselves! New Session starts next week!
January 9, 2015
Excited artists have been dropping off applications this week for our new session! I am super excited to get started with some fresh ideas and also some new Club members. Stop Motion Animation Coming Soon!

The Waste Free Wednesday Tree
October 1, 2014
Yesterday, our Artists labeled a leaf for each Waste Free Wednesday student. I added the leaves to our tree after our Club meeting. Happy to say it looks even better than I had imagined it would!
Mural! September 18, 2014
We started our "Waste Free" Tree Mural today. Our principal, Dr. Ahuja has challenged students to bring a waste free lunch to school. These students names will be added to the tree in the coming weeks. I was a bit nervous about having students paint on the wall. But I needn't have worried. This group rocks!
Canvases September 11, 2014
We included a word collage and a photo to create these mixed media self portraits. Love the uniqueness of each and every one!
New Session!
September 4, 2014
Starting off with a great group of students! I am super excited to spend time with these artists on Thursdays. We have painted canvases for a mixed media artwork and then used our Art iPads to create a word collage. I can already tell we're going to make some fantastic art this semester!

Spring 2014 Session
March 6, 2014
We spent last week making banners for our school's Boosterthon Fun Run. This week was all about making art for ourselves. The only instructions? Start with a simple clay pinched pot and add more forms to create a creature of some sort. This group is amazing! And I am enjoying our Thursday afternoons.

Fine Arts Gala
December 16, 2013
Tonight our NWES Chorus performed under the direction of Ms. Kim Dahl. It was also Art Club's chance to shine. All of the artwork we had created this semester was on display. Club members invited their families to enjoy the Chorus concert and our art gallery. I couldn't be prouder of this group!

Guest Artist
November 21st
Ceramic artist Jim Neal visited the Art Room today. He is the grandfather of one of our Art Club artists. Mr. Neal patiently explained how to use a pottery wheel and then assisted each student in creating their own clay piece. It was a great experience!

First Canvases
October 24th
Art Club artists sketched an object found in the Art Room. A magnifying glass was used to enlarge one area of the drawing. This image was drawn on a 2" x 2" canvas and then painted. Non realistic use of color was encouraged. Good practice for larger canvases to come!

Glitter glue was used for personalization.
These tell "finders" that they make keep the star in exchange for tweeting about their find.
The stars will be placed in locations near our school for people to find and keep!

Art Club members created a test tile, or small square slab, out of clay. These tiles were divided into 6 sections and then a texture was added to each section. We used our left over clay to create whatever we wanted!
September 5, 2013
Our first meeting! We took a photo of ourselves in artist mode for Mrs. Steffensen's bulletin board. We also created Notan, a Japanese cut paper art form. These artworks will be displayed at the Fulton County Schools North Transportation office for the month of October.
